Dr Sophie Smibert, Osteopath

BSc (MedSc), BAppSC(Comp Med), MHSc (Osteo), Grad Cert Paeds

Sophie is a passionate and dedicated Osteopath with over 15+ years of clinical experience. She respects the interdependent relationship between the body's structure and function and strongly believes in the body's ability to promote and restore its own health. Utilising a number of treatment styles including soft tissue work, articulation, myofascial release and cranial osteopathic technique, Sophie uses a gentle hands-on approach to assess and treat the individual needs of the body and search for its health potential. She is a warm, caring and compassionate practitioner committed to achieving the best clinical outcomes for her patients.

Since registering as an osteopath, Sophie has furthered her knowledge in paediatric assessment and treatment  completing  a Grad. Cert. of Neonate and Infant Manual Therapy at Victoria University. Her passion for learning has led her to attending numerous post-graduate courses in diverse areas such as newborn and infant feeding challenges, unsettled babies, plagiocephaly, breastfeeding, obstetrics, tongue tie assessment, Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy, Primitive Reflexes, functional breathing, sporty teenagers, lymphatics, endometriosis, gait and running, and foot biomechanics.

In 2024, Sophie participated in an incredibly valuable and rewarding osteopathic volunteer mission to treat children with disabilities in Bali, through the Hands with Heart foundation. Beyond osteopathy Sophie likes to keep active with her three children, and loves outdoor adventures, camping, travelling and playing netball in her local team.
